Seikichi Takara, a self-taught artist born and raised an the island of Oahu is a second generation American of Okinawan ancestry.

Takara has been recognized Internationally for his abstract, expressionistic and seascape paintings. His painting "Lunar Seed" an abstract was one of ten selected to become a commemorative poster for the Smithsonian Institutes Air and Space Museum Bicentennial Celebration in 1983.

"Samurai", "Encounter" and "Odyssey", and other limited edition silk-screened prints were some of the prizes offered by popular game shows such as "Price is Right", "Wheel of Fortune" and "Concentration".

Takara has had numerous one-man and group shows in Hawaii and the mainland, including Okinawa and Germany. His works were exhibited in several Artists of Hawaii juried shows at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

Takara’s works are in many private and corporate collections including the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
